Cedar Lake Design is a computer software and services firm located in Vermont. Services include embedded applications, database design, database enabled web applications, network and server configuration, computer security, and training. Our emphasis is on practical and cost-effective application of technology to real-world problems, particularly for smaller companies. We've found that in most cases, the simplest solution is the best solution for the business.

In Vermont, we provide IT and network support services for companies that aren't ready to have their own IT staff. Services range from simple network setup to installation and configuration of email, web, and database servers.

Embedded control system - for wood gasification boiler and solar heating system. Solution includes remote status / control via built-in web server. Active participant in network-enabled embedded systems development groups. Technologies used: ARM based embedded system, Linux, C, SSH, NFS, analog and digital I/O.

Sales Prospect Tracking - For a geographically dispersed collaborative organization. Tracks the progression of sales prospects through discovery, qualification, scope, and proposal. Web interface with automatic email notification to affected parties when status changes occur. Management reports are generated in real time as both Excel spreadsheets and PDF documents. Periodic emails keep particpants informed of status and required actions. Technologies used: Linux server, Apache, PHP, SQL, and Windows clients with Internet Explorer, Opera, and Firefox.

Document Change Management System - allows multiple business partners to track documentation changes via web front end on SQL database. System includes security, email notification of changes, and authorization logic. Technologies used: Linux server, Apache, ODBC, SQL, and Windows clients with Access and Internet Explorer.

Distributed database - allows multiple field staff to share daily job information with main office. Security allows each user to perform only appropriate transactions. Central office does scheduling and billing, while field staff record labor and materials. Technologies used: Windows NT with RAS, Access, replication, remote administration, and VBA.

Organizational site with information collection - allows clients and potential clients to review scope, eligibility requirements, and success of program for New England companies.
